The first Fine Arts colony session was held in 1950 for four weeks. … All opera roles would be performed in their entirety by the students; no lead singers would be brought in to sing the principal roles.
The effectiveness of training received at Inspiration Point has been demonstrated many times over by the successes by alumni in their opera careers…
The theme of Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony would be (and still is today) “The students are the stars”.Read more History

After a successful audition season last semester, that resulted in multiple offers, I’m going to be in the Bonfils-Stanton Young Artist Program at Central City Opera this summer! In my audition, they heard three pieces…all of which I sang in MasterClasses at OIO and they went smashingly! They also talked to me about my time at OIO, and asked me how I grew as an artist. I told them mostly how I grew through Penzance and Butterfly, and I wouldn’t have gotten that chance to grow if it weren’t for you (OiO)! I feel so privileged to have been in those shows… THANK YOU! It really is an amazing place…and I don’t think we quite realize our artistic growth until we’ve ended at OIO, and are back to our very different realities.
